What makes Radical Love different from other marriage courses?

Radical Love is different from other marriage courses in 3 important ways. First of all, it focuses on the Lordship of Jesus Christ and each spouse's response to His Lordship.  Secondly, it addresses root causes of conflict in the marriage relationship, rather than symptoms. And third, Radical Love emphasizes the human experience shared by both men and women. The commonality of our experience as people generates compassion and fosters hope in marriage.  Therefore, much less emphasis is placed on the differences between men and women, gender roles and needs.

How is the Seminar Structured?

The Seminar consists of 12, two-hour sessions. The Seminar meets weekly in a small group format. We recommend no more than 6 or 7 couples in a group. Experience suggests that 8 to 10 couples with a husband and wife.  Facilitating allows for maximum impact and sharing time for each student. While students choose to participate in varying degrees, all will have opportunity.

If my spouse does not want to take the Seminar, can I take it alone?

No. This Seminar is designed for couples who are committed to learning and growing together.  A related course is True Love and it is specifically designed for the willing and desiring wives.  A husband version of True Love is forthcoming.

What if we desire to take the Seminar, but cannot afford it?

Some churches offer partial scholarships to members interested in taking the Seminar, but who are financially unable to pay the entire cost.  From time to time CCR receives scholarship monies expressly for this purpose.  You may inquire about the present availability of such funds at info@radicallove.org .

Can we repeat the Seminar?

Yes.  In fact, many have indicated that they received so much more the second and third time around.  Some choose to repeat the Seminar with a couple they are mentoring.  We do ask that you make a commitment to the entire 12-weeks.

How much does it cost to repeat the Seminar?

Absolutely nothing, except your time and commitment to
go through the entire 12-weeks! Allowing participants to repeat the course without charge is one way CCR and Host churches demonstrate ongoing commitment to your marriage.

Can couples who are engaged or that are thinking about getting married attend the Seminar?

While the Seminar is geared to marriage, there is unanimous agreement from former participants (some engaged couples) that what is taught universally applies to the Christian Life. Therefore, we leave the choice to attend up to each engaged couple.

If in the middle of the course, if my spouse chooses not to finish the course, should I finish the course?

Yes, by all means.  God only requires one willing and believing individual to accomplish His will in any given situation. All participants are encouraged to complete their own commitment.  We might also recommend True Love upon completion of Radical Love.

Is the Seminar helpful for those thinking about divorce?

Yes.  The Seminar will help each participant see themselves in relationship to their spouse.  Each person will have an opportunity to own his/her contribution to marital conflict/unhappiness. Additionally, each person will have new opportunities to participate with God.

What should I do if significant issues arise that are too difficult for us to handle?

Your Facilitator is equipped to respond to questions and concerns that arise during the class.

What is the role of the Facilitator?

Your Facilitator's job is to make it as easy as possible for you to
grasp the information contained in the Seminar.  Each Facilitator has been trained first to apply the concepts to their own lives and relationships.  Then they are trained to guide others through the process.  By implementing the format found in the table of contents, your Facilitator will help you get the most out of the Seminar. Facilitators will share their own responses and experiences with the content of the Seminar, as well as encourage you to share their own.  During the next 12 weeks, your Facilitator will be your coach and your cheerleader.
